USA records its lowest trade deficit in 11 months

The US trade deficit narrowed 2.7 percent in August from the previous month to a total of $ 42.4 billion, the lowest figure in the last 11 months, the Commerce Department said today.

The decline in August was a 0.4 percent increase in exports, which totaled $ 195.3 billion, its highest level in the last two years and which suggests that international trade could help mitigate the blow that the economy from the USA has suffered from the last hurricanes.
