The World Bank calls for action against social immobility to eradicate poverty

The World Bank (WB) today warned that social mobility rates are now similar to those of half a century ago and called for action to remove this brake and meet the goal of eradicating extreme poverty in 2030.

According to the World Bank, increases in the educational level from generation to generation have stagnated in the last half century, making the socioeconomic position of parents today as determinant for the future of people as it was in the decade of 1960.
