The IMF starts its meeting with an optimism not seen in years

Optimism in the global economy, with a more than likely upward revision of forecasts, will mark the new annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to be held this week in Washington and will address the negotiations on brexit and worrying rise in income inequality.

"Next week we will update our forecasts ahead of the Annual Assembly and are likely to be more optimistic (than in July)," said IMF Director Christine Lagarde in a speech at Harvard University Boston) last week.
